Join the Team That Powers Industry
PDS Tech Commercial is hiring skilled TIG Welders (GTAW) to support our client, a premier mechanical contractor specializing in the installation, service, and maintenance of power and process systems across Maryland.
This is not a shop job. This is field welding at its finest — heavy wall pipe, industrial-grade systems, high-spec projects. You’ll be at the center of major builds and shutdowns in food-grade facilities, chemical plants, power stations, and more. If you take pride in clean welds, know your way around carbon steel pipe, and thrive on challenge — this is where you belong.
What You'll Do
Perform high-precision TIG welding on heavy wall pipe (SCH 80, Carbon Steel)
Pass and maintain certification in ASME 2" 6G GTAW Pipe Test using 309 wire (X-ray tested)
Work on both butt welds and socket welds — pipe sizes from ½” to 8”
Set up your own welding rig in dynamic industrial environments (scissor lifts, heights, tight spaces)
Support full-system installations, including piping, structural steel, tanks, platforms, valves, and pumps
Occasionally work off-shift or overtime depending on project demands
Travel locally across job sites (Baltimore Metro Area – Aberdeen to DC)
What You Bring
Required:
2–5 years of TIG welding experience in field/industrial settings
Ability to pass ASME Section IX 2" SCH80 Carbon Steel Pipe Test (6G, GTAW with 309 wire)
Strong mechanical skills and familiarity with process piping installations
Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license
Willingness to work overtime and travel locally
Preferred:
SMAW welding experience (6G 6” SCH80 Carbon Steel — 6010 Root/7018 Cap)
Familiarity with ASME codes and fabrication standards
MIG and stick welding skills
Experience in clean and dirty plant environments
Flexibility to assist outside your trade when needed
Why Work With PDS Tech

Per diem for qualifying travel

A safety-first culture and full PPE from day one
